Fox renews 'Simpsons' and 'King'

LOS ANGELES, March 20 (UPI) -- Fox TV Monday ordered two more seasons of the Emmy-winning animated series, "The Simpsons," and another season of Emmy winner "King of the Hill."

"The Simpsons" already holds the Guinness World Record for the longest running cartoon and comedy and for the most guest stars, E! Online reported.

The 10-year-old series, which will celebrate its 400th episode in May 2007, is close to tying the record for the longest running TV series set by "Gunsmoke," E! said.

The actors who provide the voices for Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa, Moe, Mr. Burns and Ned Flanders are all under contract for at least two more seasons.

When the series eventually ends, the dysfunctional Springfield crew will head to Hollywood for a big-screen adventure.

"King of the Hill," meanwhile, is the second-longest running comedy on TV, right behind "The Simpsons."
