LOS OLIVOS, Calif., March 16 (UPI) -- Pop star Michael Jackson is paying back wages owed to his Neverland Ranch employees and plans to reopen his Los Olivos, Calif., estate next week.
California state officials shut Neverland last week saying Jackson failed to keep up workers compensation benefits for his staff and owed 69 employees $304,000 in wages dating back to December.
"We have confirmed that Michael Jackson's representatives are processing the wages ... and will be distributing payroll directly to the employees tomorrow," a spokesman for California's Department of Industrial Relations told told MTV News Wednesday.
No one is allowed on the property until insurance premiums are paid, which takes a couple of days, the spokesman added.
California Labor Commissioner Robert Jones released a statement saying now that Jackson is paying his employees, there are no plans to take him to court.
