LONDON, March 15 (UPI) -- A British online ticket agent has pulled an ad campaign that invoked the name of convicted child sex offender Gary Glitter to sell children's theater tickets.

The company sent out a mass e-mail called "Doing it for the kids," with a text saying: "Like Gary Glitter in a sweet shop, you too can have your pick of kiddy treats in London's theatre world," Sky News reported Wednesday.

Lastminute.com pulled the ad and issued a statement saying it made an "error in judgment" in its "effort to stand out" and the e-mail was "misguided and inappropriate."

Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, is jailed in Vietnam for molesting two young girls. He was convicted of possession of child pornography in London in 1999 and later permanently evicted from Cambodia.
