Public picks 'Sith' scene as their fave

LONDON, March 14 (UPI) -- In another example of the dichotomy between consumers and critics, a universally panned "Star Wars" scene has won an Empire Award in London.

"The Birth of Vader," in which Darth Vader finds out his wife died and yells "nooooo" during "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" won the prize for the best cinematic moment of 2005 at Monday's Sony Ericsson Empire Awards, the Times of London reported Tuesday.

The scene starring Canadian Hayden Christensen was blasted by film critics from The Scotsman to the Toronto Star, the Times noted.

However, 25,000 filmgoers selected the scene as their favorite, rejecting scene nominees from "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit" and the arrival of the first alien craft in "War of the Worlds."
