NEW YORK, March 10 (UPI) -- New York publisher and TV producer Judith Regan has signed Osama bin Laden's niece, Wafah Dufour bin Ladin, to a reality TV show contract.
Bin Ladin -- whose side of the family spells their surname differently from the al Qaida leader -- was born in Santa Monica, Calif. Her father is bin Laden's half brother.
Regan, executive producer of A&E's "Growing Up Gotti," told Friday's New York Post the yet-untitled reality show will follow Bin Ladin, a singer/songwriter, as she pursues a career in the entertainment industry.
"It's the story of Wafah trying to make it as a singer and the many cultures she comes from," Regan said. "It's just showing that someone from these different cultures has the same aspirations, fears and insecurities that any 20-something would have."
