Preparations under way for Rock induction

NEW YORK, March 2 (UPI) -- Plans are coming together for the upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, VH1 said Thursday.

Black Sabbath, Blondie, Miles Davis, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Sex Pistols will be the 2006 honorees during the March 21 ceremony.

A&M Records founders Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Non-Performer category.

VH1 Classic will air music videos and original specials featuring the Class of 2006 starting March 18, the cable music network said in a news release.
