LOS ANGELES, March 2 (UPI) -- Hot young comedian Dane Cook has signed a long-term contract with HBO that includes a series as well as special projects.
Cook will be the focus of a stand-up feature film and a comedy documentary called "Tourgasm," The Hollywood Reporter said.
The premium cable channel also wants to develop a weekly series starring the comic, who is now bound to HBO for all nontraditional platforms such as mobile and broadband as well, The Reporter said.
HBO Chairman Chris Albrecht said the network jumped to "get in business with him as many ways as we could."
"I have rarely if ever seen the kind of response that Dane gets from the crowd when he comes onstage," Albrecht continued. "We're also looking at the long-term picture of helping to build Dane's career and (helping) him to strengthen his brand. And at the same time he'll be an important part of the HBO brand."
