Hedge fund trustee seeks money back

NEW YORK, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- A New York lawsuit is seeking $237,582 from actor John Cusack because he was allegedly overpaid for his investment in Lipper Convertibles.

A separate lawsuit dealing with the same case was also filed against former Sony Music head Tommy Mottola, seeking $756,561, the New York Post reported Saturday.

Former New York Mayor Ed Koch had a similar suit filed against him earlier this month as well.

None of the investors are accused of any wrongdoing in the hedge fund scandal. The court-appointed trustee said he was merely trying to get all the overpayments returned "so all the investors will stand in the same footing."

The fund was run by former Koch deputy mayor Ken Lipper in January 1995, the Post said.

Court papers say Cusack invested $300,000 and pulled out in 2000 with a $237,705 profit.

After two executives suddenly resigned, it was revealed the fund was overvalued by more than $329 million.
