'View' co-hosts defend S.E. Cupp over Hustler photo
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning film editor Stu Linder, who worked almost exclusively for Barry Levinson, has died of a heart attack at age 74.
Linder collapsed Jan. 12 while on location in Ridgefield, Conn., editing Levinson's "Man of the Year," The Los Angeles Times reported.
Staring with the 1982 "Diner," Linder and Levinson teamed up for nearly 20 films including "The Natural," "Wag the Dog," "Good Morning Viet Nam," "Bugsy," "Sleepers" and "Bandits."
"Personally and professionally, we had a great relationship. It was just a perfect fit," Levinson told the Times. "He shared a similar sensitivity. There was an inherent shorthand from 'Diner' on."
Linder was nominated for an Academy Award for "Rain Man" and he won his Oscar in 1966 for "Grand Prix."
The Geneva, Ill., native was a leading yachtsman in the 1970s and chalked up a victory in the 1975 Trans-Pacific Yacht Race from Los Angeles to Honolulu.
He is survived by his second wife, Cathy, a son and a brother.
