London critics honor 'Brokeback'

LONDON, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- "Brokeback Mountain" was named film of the year and Ang Lee director of year at the 26th annual London Film Critics' Circle awards Wednesday.

Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz took the top British actor and actress awards for their performances in "The Constant Gardener," the BBC reported.

Bruno Ganz won actor of the year for playing Adolf Hitler in "Downfall," while Naomi Watts was named actress of the year for "King Kong."

"Whistle Down the Wind" director Bryan Forbes was honored with the Dilys Powell Award for outstanding contribution to cinema.

The London Film Critics' Circle awards are given annually to the best in British and international films.
