'Strangers With Candy' moves to big screen

NEW YORK, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- THINKFilm Tuesday announced the acquisition of all worldwide rights to a film based on the Comedy Central show "Strangers with Candy."

The writers and stars of the TV series -- Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello -- will all be back for the film, which will be directed by Dinello, THINKFilm said in a news release.

The film will be the first for David Letterman's production company Worldwide Pants Inc.

Sedaris stars as Jerri Blank, a 46 year-old ex-junkie and ex-con who decides to return to high school for a fresh start in life while Colbert and Dinello will portray teachers.

Other cast members include Greg Hollimon, Deborah Rush, Dan Hedaya, Alison Janney, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Kristen Johnston, Justin Theroux, Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ian Holm.
