LOS ANGELES, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Director James Gray is reteaming with actors Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg for the New York-set film, "We Own the Night."
The trio last worked together on the "The Yards," Daily Variety reported Monday.
Gray wrote "We Own the Night" about a violent 1980s struggle between New York police and the Russian mob, Variety said.
When mobsters started targeting the families of officers, police put banners outside precinct houses declaring "We Own the Night," Variety said.
Wahlberg and Phoenix will portray brothers, with Wahlberg playing a cop and Phoenix the manager of a Russian mob-controlled nightclub.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in New York in March.
