LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Sean Penn is returning to the director's chair for the first time since 2001 to helm the Alaska adventure "Into the Wild" for Paramount Pictures.
Emile Hirsch, last seen in "The Lords of Dogtown," will star as Christopher McCandless, who died four months after leaving life behind to live in the Alaskan wilderness, Daily Variety reported Thursday.
Penn's last directing assignment was "The Pledge" in 2001. His next acting gig is "All the King's Men."
Hirsch will be seen next in "Imaginary Heroes" and "Alpha Dog."
