CHICAGO, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain are gearing up to record again as Smashing Pumpkins, but the rest of the lineup is not as clear.
A talent management company told MTV News Thursday that Corgan and Chamberlain have signed on with the firm as Smashing Pumpkins and they are working on new music, MTV.com reported.
Bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur, who replaced original Pumpkins bassist D'Arcy Wretzky in 1999, said she had not been asked to participate in the latest incarnation of the band -- and was not sure if Corgan contacted Wretzky or guitarist James Iha.
Billboard.com reported earlier this week the Smashing Pumpkins were rumored to be the headliners at this year's Lollapalooza festival in the band's hometown of Chicago.
Corgan's reps had no comment on either report.
