Boy George in N.Y. court for drug charges

NEW YORK, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Boy George received a continuance in court proceedings Wednesday stemming from his October cocaine bust in New York.

The former Culture Club frontman is charged with possession of a controlled substance and filing a false police report for the burglary call that brought police to his New York loft Oct. 7 and -- led to the discovery of 13 bags of cocaine in the apartment.

Boy George, aka George O'Dowd, and his attorney were granted a continuance until March 8 to give them time to prepare a defense, E! Online reported.

The singer -- with a Star of David tattooed on his forehead -- did not speak during the brief hearing. His attorney, Lewis Freeman, told reporters waiting outside his client maintains his innocence "in the strongest possible terms."

"He's going to fight them all the way," Freeman added. "A man who has something to hide does not call police."
