Ruffalo headed to New York stage

NEW YORK, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo has joined the New York cast of the Lincoln Center Theater's revival of Clifford Odet's "Awake and Sing!"

Ruffalo will play the role of World War I veteran Moe Axelrod, who lost a leg during the war, in the Depression-era drama, Daily Variety reported Tuesday.

Bartlett Sher is directing the play, which also stars Ben Gazzara, Lauren Ambrose and Zoe Wanamaker.

Previews are scheduled to begin March 24 at New York's Belasco Theatre with the opening set for April 17.
