Charlize Theron takes on 'Ice'

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is producing and starring in the drama, "The Ice at the Bottom of the World."

Mark Richard wrote the script from his short story about a Navy captain who is forced to retire for health reasons. Having him home, throws his already messed-up family into chaos, Daily Variety reported.

Theron will play a heroin-addicted daughter, who returns home the single mother of a mixed-race child.

"Ice" could be Theron's next film, depending on how quickly a director and cast are hired, Variety said.
