DETROIT, Jan. 11 (UPI) --
Detroit's White Stripes have been forced to postpone its Japanese tour while singer Jack White
recovers from an "acute vocal chord problem."
Doctors have ordered the singer to be silent for at least two weeks, the band says on its Web site.
Still on the schedule, however, is The Big Day Out Festival in Australia and New Zealand, which gets under way Jan. 20.
The Japanese tour was supposed to begin Thursday in Tokyo and wrap up Monday in Ngoya. The duo said the tour would be rescheduled as soon as possible.
