NEW YORK, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- "Lost" star Naveen Andrews Friday admitted fathering a child during a brief split in his longtime relationship with Barbara Hershey.
Andrews, who plays Sayid Jarrah in the ABC hit series, released a statement through his publicist Friday, saying he had a brief fling when he and Hershey were apart last year, E! Online reported.

He has since learned the woman had his child, the publicist said.
Andrews, 36, and Hershey, 57, have reconciled and "remain committed" to their seven-year relationship, the statement said.
"Andrews has every intention of assuming appropriate responsibility for the child and proceeding with all integrity in this matter," the statement added.
