Studios announce Blu-ray titles

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Lions Gate and Sony Home Pictures Entertainment Wednesday announced the first batch of releases in the new high-definition Blu-ray Disc format.

Lions Gate said it will release its first 10 titles in the spring: "Lord of War"; "The Punisher"; "Devil's Rejects"; "Saw"; "T2: Judgment Day"; "Reservoir Dogs"; "Total Recall"; "Dune"; "See No Evil"; and "Rambo: First Blood."

Sony's initial 20 spring releases will include "Bram Stoker's Dracula"; "Desperado"; "For a Few Dollars More"; "The Guns of Navarone"; "A Knight's Tale"; "Kung Fu Hustle"; "The Last Waltz"; "Robocop"; "Sense and Sensibility"; and "The Bridge on the River Kwai."

The studios said their first wave of titles will roll out at the same time as the new Blu-ray players hit store shelves, with more high-definition releases to follow.
