WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Tennessee Republican Deborah Tate was sworn in Tuesday as the newest member of the Federal Communications Commission.

Michael Copps, a Democrat, was also sworn in by FCC Chairman Kevin Martin for his second FCC term, MediaWeek.com reported.

The FCC is still down a member with two Republicans and two Democrats, MediaWeek noted.

However, the White House will eventually break the stalemate with a Republican nominee. It was unknown when or who that might be, MediaWeek said.
