NEW YORK, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Actors Equity has filed an unfair labor practice charge claiming a New York venue forced the closure of a show because its actors belonged to the union.
David Cassidy's production of "The Rat Pack is Back!," a tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., closed Dec. 12 before it could even officially open at the Supper Club, Daily Variety reported.
The complaint filed with the National Labor Relations Board charges the Supper Club used "coercive tactics" to sink the show because the actors were represented by Actors Equity.
The closure at the time was blamed on "unforeseen and irreconcilable circumstances on both artistic and managerial levels," Variety said.
Supper Club owner Martin Thesing released a statement in response to the charge, saying: "The Supper Club is a completely non-union house and therefore never had any contracts whatsoever with any of the actors."
