LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles man says he's not "a nut case" but admits sitting through a number of duds among the 187 movies he saw in 2005.

Richard Troncone has been to the movie theater 2,445 times in the past 40 years and the 54-year-old computer technician told the Los Angeles Times his goal for 2005 was to surpass his personal record of 176 films in one year, set in 1972.

In a year considered less than stellar, that means Troncone was subjected to plenty of duds during the past 12 months, the Times noted.

"I don't want to come across as a nut case," he said. "I just love movies. I guess that's an understatement."

Troncone has seen more than one-third of the 400 movies released in 2005 and spent $1,700 on tickets, the Times said.

He couldn't name his top 10 2005 films, saying: "It's like having 10 kids and asking me to choose my favorite."

As for 2006, Troncone said he isn't planning on trying to top 187.

"It took up too much time," he said. "I have no intention of trying again."

Then, after a moment of silence, he added: "Unless Guinness (World Records) calls."
