LOS ANGELES, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Media buyers were surprised Friday by the cancellation of the third annual TV Syndication Days in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
"That's a surprise because I found it a valuable way to get an overview of the syndicated shows being offered," Shari Anne Brill of Carat USA told Daily Variety.
Syndicated Network TV Association members -- Buena Vista, King World, Paramount, Twentieth TV, NBC Universal, Warner Bros., Tribune Entertainment and Heritage Networks -- decided the high cost of the three shows was not worth the return, Variety said.
Distributors complained after the 2005 events they were not given enough time to pitch their shows adequately to ad buyers. Therefore, they decided to call off the shows and instead focus on one-on-one office sessions.
