NEW YORK, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Former reality TV chef Rocco DiSpirito has abruptly left New York radio station WOR, it was reported Sunday.
The New York Post said DiSpirito broadcast his last show Friday. He was scheduled to shift from middays to afternoon drive next month.
DiSpirito, 39, told the Post he and management had differences about the direction of his new show.
Station officials wanted him to continue with talk of food and recipes while his vision encompassed a "broad lifestyle and entertainment-style show," DiSpirito said. "It made sense to just part company."
He denied his leaving had anything to with anti-fur comments he made about longtime WOR advertiser, New Jersey's Flemington Furs.
"The owner and I talked about the comments that upset him, and he was very simpatico," DiSpirito said. "I'm going to visit his place in New Jersey and cook something for him."
