LOS ANGELES, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Hollywood hotshot Penny Marshall is working with a pair of veteran TV writers on an hourlong drama pilot for the UPN network.

The network has already given a script commitment to "On the Edge," about a recovering drug and alcohol addicted district attorney who fights her demons while investigating the slayings of her parents, Daily Variety reported Tuesday.

Writers Michael Gleason and Alan Moskowitz will also executive produce with Marshall, a veteran Hollywood producer and director as well star of TV's classic comedy, "Laverne and Shirley."

Variety said Marshall will most likely direct the pilot as well.
