PALM DESERT, Calif., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Police Friday sought leads in the theft of paintings by Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall from a gallery in Palm Desert, Calif.
Police responded to an alarm at Modern Masters Fine Art gallery Tuesday night but by the time they arrived, the works and thieves were gone, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
Security cameras recorded two people using a crowbar to pry open the door then going straight to the two works and leaving the building.
The heist took a total 30 seconds, gallery owner Michael Gudelauski told the Times.
Picasso's "Femme Regardant par la Fenetre," is a 1959 linoleum cut of a reclining nude woman looking out a window, worth about $53,000.
Chagall's 1964 lithograph titled "The Tribe of Dan," is a multicolored religious work in blues, yellows and reds and is worth about $35,000.
Both works were signed and set in hand-carved gold frames worth $3,000 each.
