LOS ANGELES, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Actor Brad Renfro was caught up in a Los Angeles Police Department undercover sting aimed at cleaning up drug activity along skid row.

Fourteen people were arrested in downtown Los Angeles Thursday after buying balloons filled with fake heroin from undercover cops, including the star of "The Client," "Apt Pupil," "Bully," "Tom and Huck," "Sleepers" and "Ghost World," the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

An arrest was made every couple of minutes throughout the operation, with undercover officers yelling "Cancel Christmas" as a signal to uniformed officers to move in and arrest the suspects, the newspaper said.

Renfro, 23, was dressed in cargo pants and what appeared to be a military uniform when he allegedly attempted to buy heroin from the officers, police said.

He was booked into jail Thursday evening.
