LONDON, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- More than 500 British readers have chosen Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird" as the ultimate read, it was reported Thursday.
Sebastian Faulks' "Birdsong" was second followed by Mark Haddon's "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," Sky News reported.
The poll asked members of book groups across Britain to rate their favorites from a list of 100 titles.
Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel has sold more than 30 million copies in 45 years and was made into a hit movie starring Gregory Peck in 1962.
"Its powerful, transforming message about the fight for justice never fades," Vintage Publishing Director Rachel Cugnoni said.
