WGA TV award nominees announced

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Fox TV's "The Simpsons" led the Writers Guild Awards field with six nominations while NBC's "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office" picked up three apiece.

ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," HBO's "Six Feet Under" and NBC's "The West Wing" were the other multiple nominees with two nods each.

The Guild announced three new categories this year rewarding the teams behind the best drama, comedy and best new series. Guild members will vote on the new awards.

Nominees for the new category of best writing team on a dramatic series are "Deadwood," "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost," "Six Feet Under" and "The West Wing." The comedy series writing team nominees are "Arrested Development," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Entourage," "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office."

The new series writing team nominees are "Everbody Hates Chris," "Grey's Anatomy," "My Name Is Earl," "The Office" and "Rome."

The WGA will release its film nominees Jan. 4. The awards ceremonies are scheduled Feb. 4 in Los Angeles and New York.
