NEW YORK, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- A New York hip-hop radio disc jockey was being sought for allegedly punching out a woman at a trendy nightclub, it was reported Wednesday.

Ed Lover allegedly cold-cocked a 26-year-old woman, who had to have 20 stitches to repair a gash in her left cheek, the New York Post reported.

The Power 105.1 DJ is accused of punching the woman after she argued with his girlfriend in the VIP section of the club Duvet Sunday night, police said.

A source told the newspaper the victim, Letitia Belford, "didn't even see it coming."

Lover's girlfriend and Belford were separated by bouncers at the club, The Post said. But Lover, 42, allegedly jumped a railing and whipped past security, slugging the woman who went flying across the room on impact, the source said.

"It's like he jumped in to finish what she (his girlfriend) started," the source said.

It was unclear why Lover's companion was angry with Belford.
