LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Golden Globe nominee Larry McMurtry is working on a prequel to "Lonesome Dove" for CBS, it was reported Wednesday.
McMurtry and Diana Ossana, the team nominated for "Brokeback Mountain," are adapting for TV his novel "Comanche Moon," which follows Texas Rangers Woodrow Call and Augustus McCrae in the years between "Dead Man's Walk" and "Lonesome Dove," Zap2it.com reported.
Call and McCrae were played by Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall in the 1989 Emmy Award-winning "Lonesome Dove." The pair were portrayed by Jonny Lee Miller and David Arquette in the 1996 "Dead Man's Walk."
There has not been any casting for "Comanche Moon" as of yet.
McMurtry won a Pulitzer Prize for "Lonesome Dove" and an Oscar nomination in 1972 for "The Last Picture Show." He was also nominated for an Emmy in 1988 for the NBC movie "The Murder of Mary Phagan."
