'Brokeback Mountain' gets 7 Globe nods

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Ang Lee's gay cowboy film "Brokeback Mountain" grabbed seven Golden Globe nods Tuesday including best drama, best director and best actor for Heath Ledger.

Also nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for best drama were "The Constant Gardener," George Clooney's "Good Night, and Good Luck," "A History of Violence" and Woody Allen's "Match Point," Daily Variety reports.

The musical or comedy nominees were "Mrs. Henderson Presents," "Pride & Prejudice," "The Producers," "The Squid and the Whale" and "Walk the Line."

"Good Night, and Good Luck" "Match Point" and "The Producers" received four nominations each while Clooney himself grabbed three for co-writing and directing "Good Night" and his supporting role in "Syriana."

The Globes' TV category singled out several new series including HBO's epic "Rome," Fox's "Prison Break," NBC's "My Name is Earl," UPN's "Everybody Hates Chris" and Showtime's "Weeds."

NBC will broadcast the Golden Globes ceremony from Los Angeles Jan. 16.
