LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Irish actor Colin Farrell has entered a rehab center in an undisclosed location for treatment of exhaustion and dependency on prescription drugs.

Farrell was prescribed painkillers for a back injury and got hooked, his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement Monday.

"No other comments (are) to be made at this time," said the statement released to Zap2it.com.

Farrell, 29, will next been seen playing explorer John Smith in "The New World," opening in limited release Christmas Day. He recently finished filming "Miami Vice" with Jamie Foxx.
