Fierstein to play mom on Fox sitcom

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Tony Award-winning cross-dresser Harvey Fierstein reportedly is going to play a New Jersey mom in a sitcom being developed for Fox TV.

The show centered around Fierstein, the star of Broadway's "Hairspray," is being written by David Richardson of "8 Simple Rules," MediaWeek.com reported Tuesday.

The yet-untitled project is being produced by Storyline Entertainment principals Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, along with Touchstone TV.
