NEW YORK, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Singer Harry Belafonte, actor Michael J. Fox and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee were honored with Impact Awards from AARP The Magazine.
"With our culture so youth-oriented and focused on the needs, the interests and the hedonistic pleasures of the young, it's nice to know that there is an organization sincerely interested in the mature segment of society," Bellafone, 78, told the New York Daily News at Monday's ceremony at the New York Public Library.
"We have hedonistic pleasures, but they're not quite as intense," he added. "They last longer, though."
Fox, 46, told audience: "I have to admit I was surprised to hear from AARP The Magazine; it seemed like just yesterday I was getting Tiger Beat: Smokin' Hot in the mail."
Huckabee, 50, downplayed his role in society, saying his fellow honorees made him "feel as out of place as Russell Crowe at a cell phone store."
