Parker Bowles named 2005 Most Fascinating

NEW YORK, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Britain's Duchess of Cornwall, better known as Camilla Parker Bowles, has been crowned the "Most Fascinating Person" of 2005 by ABC News.

The annual reveal came Tuesday night during Barbara Walter's ABC special.

Parker Bowles beat out celebs and newsmakers such as Tom Cruise, Kanye West, attorney Thomas Mesereau and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for her unwavering, unconditional love for Britain's heir to the throne, Prince Charles.

She was only 23 years old when she met and fell in love with the prince and she waited three decades for her fairy tale ending.

In the meantime, Charles married Diana -- who became beloved by her subjects as the British tabloids turned Camilla into a reviled villain, placing the blame for the doomed-from-the start royal marriage squarely on her shoulders.

All that is in the past, however. The couple, now in their late 50s, married in April with the approval of their families and the public.

In crowning Camilla as 2005's "Most Fascinating," ABC noted her "triumph may not be about taking on the world, but taking on one man. It is a triumph of patience and understanding that is seldom rewarded."
