'Ring' is 4th film for LoBianco, Spano

NEW YORK, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Tony LoBianco says playing Vincent Spano's uncle in the new TNT romance "The Engagement Ring" wasn't hard since they already knew each other well.

Their fourth film, co-starring Patricia Heaton, is about two families of Italian-American vintners in California's Napa Valley who are embroiled in a feud stemming from a misunderstanding between two members (LoBianco and Lainie Kazan) 40 years earlier.

"It was a joy to go to work," Lo Bianco told UPI in a recent telephone interview. "It was like seeing your family."

Recalling how Spano read the script first, then passed it on to him, "The French Connection" star said: "I got to read it and it was perfect for me. Then Lainie called me and said, 'You should be doing this.' It was like made in heaven and so I was very, very happy to work with them."

LoBianco said he especially liked how "The Engagement Ring," which is primarily a romantic comedy, offers some nice dramatic moments, too.
