Nickelback singer sues former drummer

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger has filed suit in Canada to try and recoup performance royalties paid to the group's ousted drummer Ryan Vikedal.

Kroeger's lawsuit filed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Supreme Court claims he, alone, wrote and produced Nickelback's music, MTV.com reported Monday.

The suit said Vikedal, who joined Nickelback in 1998, received small royalty percentages for the three albums he worked on from 2000 to 2003, but his firing in January 2005 negated any further royalty rights.

The suit does not specify monetary damages and both Kroeger's attorney and Roadrunner Records declined to comment on the suit.

Daniel Adair of 3 Doors Down handled drum duties on Nickelback's latest album, "All the Right Reasons," which has sold more than 1 million copies since its October release.
