ABC says bye-bye to 'Alias'

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- ABC's once popular spy drama, "Alias," has been canceled.

The Emmy-winning thriller starring Jennifer Garner as agent Sydney Bristow will air its final episode in May, ABC announced late Wednesday.

E! Online said "Alias" had fallen prey to the "Mork and Mindy" curse.

ABC has not been able to maintain a scripted TV show in the 8 p.m. Thursday slot since "Mork & Mindy" was canceled in 1982, E! said.

"Alias" joins "My So Called Life," "Threat Matrix" and "Knightwatch" in ABC's Thursday night graveyard.

On the upside for Garner, however, E! noted that Claire Danes, James Denton and Benjamin Bratt all went on to achieve great fame after the cancellations of their aforementioned show.
