GENEVA, Switzerland, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are packing their bags to visit survivors of the horrific Oct. 8 earthquake in Pakistan.
More than 73,000 people were killed and millions left homeless by the quake.
The couple met with officials for private meetings Tuesday at the U.N. High Commission for Refugees, UNHCR, in Geneva, Switzerland, the BBC reported Wednesday.
Jolie is a goodwill ambassador for the refugee agency. She told reporters she and Pitt would embark on their mission within "a matter of days," the BBC said.
Jolie "takes her work for us extremely seriously and that means a lot to her and the staff," UNHCR spokeswoman Jennifer Pagonis told the BBC. "She's a terrific goodwill ambassador who can help people understand the difficult life of a refugee."
