LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Three-time Oscar winner Steven Spielberg Monday was named winner of the Art Director Guild's award for Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery.
Spielberg in 2005 alone directed "War of the Worlds," produced and directed "Munich," produced "Memoirs of a Geisha" and was one of the executive producers of "The Legend of Zorro."
The award is bestowed "from time to time" to an individual whose body of work has richly enhanced the visual aspects of the movie-going experience, the Guild said in a news release.
Previous recipients include Zhang Yimou, Clint Eastwood, Blake Edwards, Robert S. Wise, Frank Oz, Norman Jewison and John Lasseter.
Spielberg will receive the award during the 10th Annual Art Directors Guild Awards Feb. 11, 2006 at the Beverly Hills Hilton.
