Oprah to revisit David Letterman

NEW YORK, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Oprah Winfrey has relented on her vow to never sit down opposite "Late Show" host David Letterman ever again.

Winfrey last appeared on Letterman's gabfest in May 1989 and in 2003 she told Time magazine she was "completely uncomfortable" with the experience "and I vowed I would not ever put myself in that position again."

But Winfrey is putting the past behind her in the interest of her Broadway production "The Color Purple" and will make her second appearance on Letterman's show Dec. 1 -- which just happens to be opening night, E! Online reported Monday.

Letterman oozed Oprah-riffic platitudes in announcing the booking during his show Monday night.

"Put bygones behind us, the water under the bridge, over the dam, wherever water goes --standing in your basement," Letterman said, "she's going to be here on this show, and it's going to be fantastic."
