LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Universal has re-released Russell Crowe's summer boxing flick "Cinderella Man" in an effort to create an Oscar buzz, it was reported Sunday.
Shortly after the film was released in June, producer Brian Grazer was quoted in the New York Times saying: "I don't think the season of summer is compatible with a movie of this type," Daily Variety noted.
Studio execs apparently agreed, and now Ron Howard's film is back on screens in Los Angeles, New York and Toronto, Variety said.
Universal Marketing President Adam Fogelson said there is nothing unusual about the move, pointing out the studio did the same with "Erin Brockovich" and "Seabiscuit," both of which went on to receive best picture nominations.
"Cinderella Man" will be released on DVD Dec. 6, Variety said.
