NEW YORK, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Ronald Gabriel Paolillo is making a name for himself as a New York playwright, but in the land of TV reruns he'll always be Sweathog Arnold Horshack.
The former "Welcome Back Kotter" star's latest play, "The Lost Boy," opened to rave reviews at New York's Queeens Theatre in the Park this week, the New York Daily News reported Friday.
Paolillo worked 10 years on the drama about "Peter Pan" creator J.M. Barrie and has been working steadily since "Kotter" went off the air in the 1970s.
The playwright said people still confuse him -- the person -- with Horshack -- the character -- even though it has been 30 years since the Sweathogs ruled the airwaves.
"But people are still coming up to me and saying things like, 'Who knew you had depth?'" he said. "Horshack is (a part of) history, and there's nothing I can ever do to try to change that.
"I'm not even sure if I want to."
