LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Actor Adrien Brody is headed to Spain to learn the art of bullfighting for his starring role in "Manolete."

Penelope Cruz will star opposite Brody in the story of matador Manuel Rodriguez Sanchez and his love affair with actress Lupe Sino, Daily Variety reported Thursday.

Menno Meyjes wrote the script and will direct the film set in 1940s Spain. Sanchez died in the bullring in 1947 at age 30.

Brody is set to start his training in January with shooting scheduled to begin in March.
