Classic TV shows get Internet-active

NEW YORK, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- America Online and Warner Bros. Entertainment Monday announced plans to put thousands of old TV shows in the Internet for free viewing.

The new In2TV service launching in January and will episodes of more than 100 shows including "Welcome Back Kotter," "Chico and the Man," "Kung Fu," "Maverick" and "Growing Pains," The Washington Post reported.

The six Web-based channels will be available on-demand on AOL.com for viewing via high-speed Internet connections.

The companies will profit through banner advertising as well was four 15-second video ads per 30-minute TV show, the Post said.

The first year will offer 4,800 classic TV episodes with plans to expand down the line, officials said.
