LONDON, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- British rocker Phil Collins says if his old bandmates in Genesis decide to reunite, "I'll be there."

Collins took over the band's vocal duties when Peter Gabriel left in 1975 to pursue a solo career and the band finally split up seven years ago, the BBC noted Monday.

Now, Collins says he would be open to retiring behind the drum kit and letting Gabriel take his old spot behind the mic, if a reunion were to happen.

"If it happens, I'll be there," Collins said. "I'm open for it. I'm happy to sit behind the drums and let Peter be the singer.

"If it doesn't happen, it would just be because there are too many things in the way."
