Koppell picks Albom for final 'Nightline'

NEW YORK, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- ABC's "Nightline" anchor Ted Koppel will have a low-key final show with Detroit sportswriter and author Mitch Albom as his guest.

Albom is author of "Tuesday's With Morrie" and both Koppel and Albom share great affection for the best-seller's subject, Morrie Schwartz, The Hollywood Reporter said.

In fact, the Nov. 22 "Nightline" will be more a retrospective of the life of the late Schwartz than revisiting Koppel's storied history at the late night news show's anchor.

"It's Ted and Mitch talking about what Morrie taught them and intercut with the best of Morrie," "Nightline" Executive Producer Tom Bettag told The Reporter. "This is a retrospective. "It's not talking about Ted. It's talking about someone who Ted admires."
