'Grey's Anatomy' gets post-Super slot

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- ABC Monday announced its medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" will air in the high-profile spot after the Feb. 5, 2006 Super Bowl broadcast.

"'Grey's Anatomy' is a huge asset for this network and is fast becoming one of America's favorite Sunday night events," ABC Entertainment chief Stephen McPherson said. "The producers are preparing a great episode that will appeal to new viewers as well as devoted fans."

"Grey's Anatomy" has averaged 18 million viewers per week in its second season, sixth-best on all of television, Zap2it.com reported.

The 2005 Super Bowl broadcast on Fox kept 23.5 million viewers around for "The Simpsons" and 33.5 million people watched "Survivor: All-Stars" after the CBS telecast of the 2004 Super Bowl.
